Conference Location

The conference is organized at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), one of the top engineering universities in Europe. Lausanne is located on the shores of Lake Geneva, framed between a spectacular Alpine peak panorama and the breathtaking beauty of gently sloping vineyards and picturesque medieval villages. One single visit has sufficed for personalities from Charlie Chaplin to David Bowe to choose the Lake Geneva region as their home. Lausanne is the culturally rich capital of Canton Vaud at the heart of the French speaking part of Switzerland. The city’s skyline is bejeweled by the XIII century Notre Dame de Lausanne cathedral, which is the finest example of Gothic architecture in the country. Lausanne is home to the International Olympic Committee and it hosts a number of impressive museums. In just a few hours by train, you can reach natural wonders such as the Matterhorn and exciting cities like Paris, Milan.

Climate

The climate of Lausanne, during July is usually pleasantly warm and occasionally humid. Temperatures vary from lows of 15 degree Celsius to highs of about 30 degree Celsius. Visitors should be prepared for variable weather conditions. Jackets or light coats may be required on occasion.

The language of the conference is English.
